About

Mark Loveys, currently the CEO of Datagate Innovation Group, is a seasoned software entrepreneur known for his success in building thriving businesses.
In the 1980s, after earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Auckland University, Mark ventured into music as the lead singer, songwriter, bass player and founding member of the popular band “Satellite Spies,” which scored a local hit in New Zealand with the title track of their album “Destiny in Motion.” The band even had the opportunity to support “Dire Straits” during the New Zealand leg of their “Brothers in Arms” tour in 1986.
Moving into the 1990s, Mark founded “Orbit Software,” where he developed and marketed the MS-DOS based SME accounting package “Orbit Accounts” for small businesses. In 1995, he sold Orbit Software to “PC Direct,” a successful New Zealand PC computer hardware manufacturer and retailer, and joined their management team as Information Services Manager. During his tenure, Mark and his team developed “DirectVision,” a cutting-edge Windows client-server ERP solution, providing PC Direct with a significant competitive advantage.
Following his time at PC Direct, Mark collaborated with its founder and CEO to create a new ERP product called “Exonet,” which gained traction in the SME business software market in New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. In just two years, Exonet was sold to “Solution 6” for AU$30M, later becoming “MYOB EXO.”
In 2001, Mark co-founded “Datasquirt” to develop short message solutions for corporate clients. Subsequently, Datasquirt went public on the Australian stock exchange in 2007.
In 2002, Mark, along with two former Exonet managers, acquired the direct-sales division of Exonet, forming “Enprise,” the largest MYOB EXO reseller in New Zealand. Enprise expanded its portfolio by acquiring “EMS Cortex” and establishing a global SAP Solution Partner business, eventually becoming the CEO of Enprise Group.
In February 2011, EMS Cortex was acquired by Citrix Systems, while Datasquirt was sold to LiveOps in December 2011 for US $12.5M.
Mark’s involvement with SAP led him to become a founding member and Chairman of the SAP Business One Global Solution Partner Advisory Council (SPAC), advising SAP on matters concerning the global SME market.
In September 2015, Mark stepped down as CEO of Enprise Group to fully focus on his role as CEO of the cloud startup “Datagate Innovation.”
in April 2019, Mark and his wife Lee relocated to Vancouver, Canada to be closer to the North American market for Datagate.
Today Datagate is a successful multi-national provider of cloud telecom billing software for MSPs in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
